Accra, Ghana | 3rd December 2024 – The African Centre for Parliamentary Affairs (ACEPA) reaffirms its unwavering commitment to the principles of democracy and good governance as Ghana approaches a pivotal moment in its democratic journey—the upcoming elections.
We take immense pride in the remarkable progress our nation has made in strengthening democratic institutions and processes. Elections are not only a cornerstone of democracy but also a vital opportunity for citizens to shape the leadership and direction of our country. To this end, ACEPA entreats all eligible voters to exercise their constitutional right to vote and do so peacefully, with the spirit of unity and patriotism that Ghana is known for.
As a nation that continues to serve as a beacon of democracy in Africa, we urge all political parties, candidates, and their supporters to prioritize peace throughout the electoral process. Election day activities should reflect our collective aspiration for a harmonious and prosperous Ghana. Let us all remember that our shared future transcends individual ambitions and party lines.
Let us commit to ensuring a credible, transparent, and peaceful election. By so doing, we are shaping an inclusive, accountable, and harmonious future for all.
Finally, as we anticipate the election of the sixth President of the fourth Republic and 276 Members of Parliament, we extend to all of them, our heartfelt congratulations and best wishes. We trust that this new leadership will continue to uphold the democratic values and parliamentary traditions that have been the hallmark of Ghana’s governance.
