6th WAAPAC Accountability Conference and General Assembly

Members of Public Accounts Committees in the West African sub region converged in Lomé, Togo from September 28-30, 2016 for the annual West Africa Association of Public Accounts Committees (WAAPAC) accountability conference and general assembly. The conference was on the theme "Beyond PAC Recommendations: The Missing Link in the Pursuit of Public Accountability" and aimed at equipping participants with tools and strategies in following up on the implementation of PAC recommendations as well as improving the oversight work of the Committees.

Apart from MPs and Staff from PACs and Finance Committees of eleven WAAPAC countries, the conference was also patronised by PACs from Southern and Eastern Africa, representatives of Supreme Audit Institutions (SAIs) and development partners.

ACEPA, which hosts the WAAPAC secretariat, coordinated this year's event just as it has done in previous years, with support from the World Bank Group, the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association and the National Assembly of Togo.
